Mission Advocates
***Note: The new Mission Advocacy Resource is available here.
Mission Advocates in Partnership
 - Mission Advocates model, encourage, communicate, and ask for support of American Baptist mission, as they serve Christ through this important ministry. They are well-trained and informed laity with a desire to share American Baptist stories of mission and ministry in their own congregations.
- Mission Advocates serve as a mission education resource to their pastors and represent their local congregation’s mission in the wider mission of American Baptists.
- Mission Advocates in each American Baptist region meet together to receive commissioning, training, and ongoing support.
- Mission Advocates become part of a network that includes the entire American Baptist family. They represent the ministries of our national and general boards.
- Mission Advocates help bring Acts 1:8 to life in their communities, their regions, our country, and around the world.
The Mission Advocates in Partnership program was
launched via a televised satellite event on September 13, 1997. More than 1,500
advocates in 50 locations were simultaneously commissioned. Currently, over 2,500
American Baptists, representing 1,700 congregations, serve as Mission Advocates.
- Do you have a natural enthusiasm for the cause of Christ and the Gospel?
- Would you like to know how American Baptists “do mission” in your community, your region, our country, and other countries around the world?
- Would you like to help your pastor develop your church’s mission potential?
Talk to your pastor and regional minister of mission support about becoming a Mission Advocate in Partnership.
